Surveying the EENE Membership

To propose a survey of our organization’s instructor membership, please submit a concise proposal outlining your project. All survey proposals must meet the following guidelines:

  1. Sample
    • Only instructors that are EENE members will be surveyed.
    • No students are involved.
    • IRB approval (of any kind) is not needed.
  2. Usage
    • Survey responses can be used to inform future research questions/proposals.
    • Anonymized responses can be used as motivation for future research but cannot be used directly in an academic paper without IRB approval.

Proposals should include the following:

  1. Survey Objective & Overview (<150 words)
    • What is the primary question or objective your survey aims to address?
    • What information do you intend to gather from the membership?
    • Why is this survey important and beneficial to the organization or its members?
    • Do you need and have IRB approval to survey the membership?
  2. Background (<200 words)
    • What existing information or data (if any) is relevant to your survey topic?
    • Briefly mention any prior surveys or insights that inform your current proposal.
  3. Methodology (<300 words)
    • Who is the target audience within the membership for this survey?
    • How will the survey be administered (e.g., email, online platform)?
    • How much time do you anticipate the survey will take for members to complete?
    • What are the key questions or areas of inquiry? (Please include a copy of your survey and indicate the format (e.g. qualtrics, google forms, etc.) that will be used for distribution. )
    • How will the collected data be anonymized, analyzed, and used?
  4. Timeline (<100 words)
    • Provide an estimated timeline for survey development, deployment, data collection, and reporting of results.
  5. Project Contact (<100 words)
    • Who is the primary contact person for this survey proposal?
    • Include their title and contact information.
